A Lesson in History

by Shavina
(Atlanta)

This one is from Art Linkletter's book, Kids Say the Darndest Things:

"Art asked a girl, 'Who would you like to be?'

She answered: 'Martha Washington.'

'Why?'

'Because she married a millionaire, and I'd like to do the same.'

Art asked, 'What else was Martha Washington famous for?'

The girl, 'For spending all her husband's money.'

'How do you know?' asked Art, surprised.

The girl, 'I've seen pictures of him and he couldn't even afford a haircut. He wore a ponytail.'"
